Position: Energy Consultant

Job Description:

Southpoint Solutions is seeking energetic individuals with strong selling skills for the position of Energy Consultant throughout our southeastern region.  The Energy Consultant is our customer-facing sales professional responsible for finding, developing, and selling energy-efficient lighting projects.  Based near Charlotte, NC, the position requires moderate travel (mostly driving) and the ability to work independently.  Strong communication skills are required as well as previous experience utilizing conceptual and strategic selling.

General Responsibilities:

  • Prospect and develop new opportunities within the territory for our products and services utilizing online tools and Company leads
  • Perform field surveys and project estimates using Company provided sales tools
  • Develop and present proposals using financial-based decision analytics
  • Achieve quarterly sales targets and increase market penetration within area
  • Attend regularly scheduled training sessions and regional sales meetings
  • Develop and grow relationships with Southpoint’s partners to generate sales leads
  • Maintain relationships with customers to generate future sales
  • Comprehensive knowledge and implementation of our Sales Process


  • Conceptual (non-product specific) selling experience to C-level buyers

  • Team player: able to work well with others to accomplish shared goals
  • Dependable and goal oriented: reliable, professional, strong work ethic
  • Computer skills: proficient working knowledge of Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Adobe, web search tools, and CRM
  • Working knowledge of basic financial analysis (ROI, cash flow, IRR, etc.)
  • Moderate travel required

Additional skills desired but not required:

  • Energy management experience (demand side technologies)
  • Electrical or mechanical building system experience
  • HVAC, building controls, or lighting system knowledge


We offer an extremely competitive compensation package which is based upon the achievement of specific sales goals.  Base salary plus commission based on secured gross margin.  There is no cap on earnings.  Additional benefits include:
