Southpoint Solutions was founded in 2003 by Jeff Hickman and Jack Marks with a simple mission: help our clients understand and manage what they spend on energy, and in the process decrease their operating expenses, improve work environments, and meet environmental objectives.
To emphasize our commitment to this goal, before you contract with us we urge you to allow a no risk test of our products at your facility so that you can evaluate both their performance and energy savings.

Jeff Hickman
President & CEO
He began his career in energy management at Johnson Controls in 1990 after receiving a Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Engineering. Starting as a sales engineer, Jeff held various leadership positions in sales and operations management, winning national recognition as a consistent top performer. During his time at Johnson Controls, he completed over 2 years of evening coursework in the MBA program at the University of North Carolina in Charlotte with a concentration in financial management and accounting.
The motivation to start the business was derived from a true passion for long-term business partnerships bonded by personal relationships. This passion combined with an insatiable entrepreneurial desire to create a results-driven business with a unique combination of engineering excellence and financial performance were the pillars upon which the business model evolved.
As Southpoint Solutions closes in on it’s second decade in business, these founding principles have allowed the business to grow and evolve with the changing trends in the industry. Relationships endure, and partnerships expand as we continue to guide our clients through their second and third generational lighting technology upgrades. These long-lasting partnerships are validation of our business model and will continue to guide us for the next 20 years.
